I've edited my previous post to indicate the more commonly reported weight for Nurger - which is 240. The 220 was probably a year old. Sunrise has a solid weight program and players coming out of that prep school are in basketball shape, so the 240 probably doesn't represent weight that needs to be dropped.

Nurger seems to be generally ranked as a 3 star player. The only scouting report I've seen that gave him a position ranking put him at the #35 post player nationally. There isn't a lot of scouting done on foreign players in post-HS prep school, who don't play AAU ball.

His wingspan comes in at 7'2". His prep school coach says he has excellent timing blocking shots and videos show he's a very active shot blocker. The prep program he was in plays a lot of games against JuCo's here in Kansas, so he's been playing against post-HS competition.

The PG on the team Nurger played with last year is Zach Brown, who was a WSU commit before he enrolled at Sunrise, was Nurger's roommate at Sunrise, and is at WSU with Nurger this year.

Yes, Sunrise Academy played 15 games against local JUCOs (many Jayhawk conference) and won most. Stats for F/C Ruget were 10 points and 9 boards per game. He played and practiced with three other D-I posts that signed at Arizona, South Florida, and Minnesota and was considered to be as good or better than all by his coach.

Two other players signed at Michigan State. 6-7 wing guard Zach Brown averaged 13 and 7 while playing the point and was the team MVP. Zach has been listed as a top 100 type recruit, but he skipped AAU and practiced with the Shockers last summer. These two, along with 6-7 forward Rashards Kelly (also prep school grad) should see significant court time (10+ mpg) this year.

Not much of a correction but I think that I read that Zachary Brown actually averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds.

WSU's incoming players would win the Valley this year by themselves.

I made no such prediction.

Though I might point out that said team with said bench won 28 games and the NIT, which is a much greater season than any other Valley team has had since UNI in 2010.
